Our Caring Veterinarians

Mark Acker, DVM
Veterinary School: Colorado State University

For over 25 years Dr. Acker has been serving the Wood River Valley’s veterinary needs. When Dr. Acker moved to Bellevue in 1984 to manage the Sawtooth Animal Center, he had little idea that the clinic would grow into the state-of-the-art facility that it is today. Raised in Grand Junction, Colorado, Dr. Acker attended Western State College of Colorado for his B.A. and Teaching Certificate. He also attended Colorado State University for both his B.S. and D.V.M. degrees.

Voted the Valley’s best veterinarian numerous times, Dr. Acker takes special interest in internal medicine, soft tissue surgery, as well as oncology and canine reproduction.

In his spare time, snowshoeing, skiing, hiking, fly-fishing and gardening inspire Dr. Acker to create beautiful watercolor paintings displayed throughout the clinic.

Dr Breedveld still has a menagerie of dogs, cats, horses, mules, and a large iguana at home. Her other hobbies include hiking, horseback riding, Nordic skiing, snowshoeing and gardening.

Sarah Bahan, DVM
Veterinary School: Harvard, Yale, and UC Davis

Sarah grew up in the Wood River Valley, where she was instilled with a love for the natural world from an early age.  Her passions led her to Harvard, where she studied Organismic and Evolutionary Biology, and on to the Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Studies, where she earned a masters in environmental science studying conservation genetics and climate change law and policy.  Her interest in the health of the environment and all of its inhabitants inspired her to continue her studies at veterinary school.  A recent graduate of UC Davis, she is thrilled to be back in the valley practicing veterinary medicine and enjoying the great outdoors.
